Women's Ministry

The primary vehicle for our women’s ministry is participating in our local chapter of the United Women in Faith. For over 100 years, the United Methodist Women (and their predecessors) have worked on a global scale to spread God’s love through mission work. At First United Methodist Church, our UWF unit consists of two groups (circles) that meet monthly to do their work of mission and study. Through their various activities, they support mission work on a local and a global scale with service and financial support! 

One of many United Women in Faith projects is collecting shoebox items for the Operation Christmas Child Project. Our goal is to send an average of 100+ shoeboxes a year! UWF has an annual fundraiser that offers casseroles, baked goods, jellies, pickles, and salsa to raise funds for local, regional, state, and worldwide mission projects. All donations help our women’s group support projects within the community such as God’s Food Box, June Jenkins Women’s Shelter, and Louisiana Methodist Children’s Homes.
