The Mission of the Methodist Children's Learning Center is to offer a high quality child program enabling children to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually to their full potential. 

To offer unconditional Christ-like love and to serve as a ministry outreach of the First Unitied Methodist Church. 

Started as Mother’s Morning Out in the 1970’s, First United Methodist Church’s Methodist Children’s Learning Center has grown into a full-week day program to meet the needs of today’s families. Children of all faiths, one year through Pre-K, are accepted as space provides. They are offered a balanced program that enables each child to grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually through participation in individual, small-group, and large activities. An after-school program is offered during the academic year.

Recognizing that play is a child’s work and that through play children learn to interact with others in an acceptable and loving way, classrooms are set up with learning centers. These centers allow a child to manipulate materials, create with blocks, and use language to develop important concepts. Teachers introduce activities that are appropriate to the child’s developmental needs and are aware of each child’s interests and uniqueness.

State background checks are maintained and safety measures are enforced. Teachers receive 12 hours of continuing education each year.

Methodist Children's Learning Center is a ministry of First United Methodist Church of DeRidder and is governed by a Day School Board that is ultimaely responsible to the Church Council. Day to day operations are under the adminstration of the Director.
