We had a wonderful summer here at the Methodist Children’s Learning Center. Every week our students went to the movies in Lake Charles, the splash pad, and swimming at West Park Pool. We took some special trips outside our weekly ones and thoroughly enjoyed VBS as well. It is our personal belief that our students’ summers should be filled with adventures just like any child that remains at home for the school break.

Now that summer is drawing to a close and the store shelves are filling up with school supplies, it is time for us to prepare to return to school. At MCLC we are excited to introduce a new learning curriculum for our Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 classes this year. We will also have play guided learning for our younger students ages 1 and up. Our younger 2 and 3 year olds benefit from daily circle time, where they briefly sit down for a story and learning shapes and colors. Our Pre-K students also receive chapel time with prayer, lessons, guided by our pastor Rev. Laraine Waughtal, and songs in our sanctuary. All of our students also get a weekly visit from our Children’ Ministry Director, Ashley Carpenter, who brings a bible story and a craft. During the hot and sometimes rainy summer afternoons, we make the most of our indoor gym and play equipment. In the fall we look forward to the cooler weather and using our outdoor playground both in the morning and the afternoon.

We look forward to our grade school students joining us when they arrive to us from the school bus stop right here at MCLC. We serve them a snack and help them with any homework they may have and give them time to play and run out all that leftover energy from school.
