Dear Friends:
EARLIER THIS WEEK, I wrote you about the special offering we will be taking tomorrow for our Children's Home ministries in Louisiana and pray you will generously support over and above your tithes this vital mission of Louisiana Methodists.
Along with this offering is the reality that Mother's Day is not necessarily a good day for many because of a variety of reasons that reflect the complicated nature of maternal bonds (or lack thereof) across society. Tomorrow, as is the case every Sunday, we will worship God and the primary focus of worship will be God. For those who may be looking to avoid a big production about Mother's Day and might be staying away from worship because it's so hard, please know that we have designed worship for tomorrow in such a way that while motherhood will be acknolwedged, it will be done in such a way as to be as safe as possible for all. I wrote about Mother's Day at length back in 2007, and put an updated version two years ago that you can read here.
We will be concluding our Seeds for Resurrection & Redemption Easter worship series tomorrow by exploring 1 John 5:1-6...come join us for some inspiration about The Power of Love in a 'slightly' different way than Huey Lewis and the News might have imagined in 1985.
Grace and Peace,
- Lamar
